About Me

From January through July 2024, I hold a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Arizona.

The appointment supports the Aspiring Powers Initiative (API) under the direction of

Dr. Dmitriy Nurullayev.  Our research investigates dynamics among aspiring powers in international politics.

I defended my dissertation at the University of Texas at Austin in December 2023.

My research agenda centers around international relations with a focus on security cooperation.  My dissertation looks at multinational military exercises, also known as war games.  Over three chapters, it explores the conditions under which exercises take place; micro-level effects of exercises as forms of public diplomacy; and how exercises disseminate military culture and norms like respect for human rights.

My other research interests include United States Foreign Policy, Monte Carlo methods, and hierarchical relationships.

I was previously the Managing Editor of the journal Conflict Management and Peace Science.

Prior to UT, I was a database analyst at a public affairs firm in Washington, DC.  Before that, I earned my BA in Mathematics and Political Science from Emory University.

I also enjoy ultimate frisbee, kayaking, and helping my dog get the ball from under the couch.
